How to prepare
A few things that make the visit quicker and the results more reliable.
- Fast for 10 to 12 hours, since insulin, C-peptide and glucose are fasting samples.
- Do not take your morning diabetes medicine or insulin until after the blood is drawn. Bring it with you.
- Bring a first morning urine sample for the microalbumin if you can.
- Bring your glucose meter readings and your current medicine list.
- Avoid strenuous exercise the day before, which affects the microalbumin.
