Your health. Our priority.
What parents need from a children's department is a fast, clear answer and somebody who does not treat their worry as an overreaction.
- A paediatrician on duty at all hours, so a fever at midnight is seen by a children's doctor
- Growth and development tracked at every visit, which is how problems are found early
- Neonatal intensive care in the same building for a newborn who needs it
- Parents kept with the child, including overnight

Questions, answered.
Common questions about paediatrics care at Humayun Hospital.
When should a fever bring my child to hospital?
Any fever in a baby under three months, a fever with drowsiness, a rash that does not fade under pressure, difficulty breathing, or a child too unwell to drink. Otherwise most fevers can be watched at home for two to three days.
Can I stay with my child if they are admitted?
Yes. A parent stays with the child, including overnight. It helps the child and it helps us, because you notice changes first.
We missed some vaccinations. Is it too late?
No. Almost every schedule can be caught up. Bring the immunisation card and we will work out what is due without starting again.
My child keeps getting chest infections. Is that normal?
Frequent chest infections with wheeze are often asthma rather than repeated infection. It is worth assessing, because treating it as asthma changes the outcome.
