Care for kidney disease, hypertension and dialysis support.
Care for kidney disease, hypertension and dialysis support.
Your health. Our priority.
Almost everything that protects kidneys happens years before dialysis is discussed.
- Kidney function checked in the people most at risk, which is where early disease is actually found
- Blood pressure and diabetes treated as kidney treatment, because that is what they are
- Dialysis started at the right time and prepared for in advance, not begun as an emergency
- Honest discussion of transplant, dialysis and conservative care as genuine alternatives

Questions, answered.
Common questions about nephrology care at Humayun Hospital.
How would I know if my kidneys are affected?
Usually you would not, until a lot of function is lost. That is why a creatinine test and a urine check matter if you have diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history.
Does kidney disease always lead to dialysis?
No. Many people with chronic kidney disease never need dialysis, particularly when it is found early and blood pressure and diabetes are controlled.
Is dialysis painful?
The treatment itself is not painful. Needling the access is a brief sting. Most people find the schedule harder than the procedure, and that is worth planning around.
Can I avoid dialysis by changing my diet?
Diet helps, and a renal dietitian will guide you, but diet alone does not reverse established kidney failure. It works alongside medication and blood pressure control, not instead of them.
