Your health. Our priority.
A laboratory is judged on whether the result is right, arrives in time, and belongs to the right patient.
- Barcoded tracking from collection to report, because misidentified samples cause more harm than analytical error
- Internal and external quality control run continuously, not occasionally
- Critical results telephoned to the treating doctor rather than left in a report
- Most routine tests reported the same day, so treatment starts the same day

Questions, answered.
Common questions about laboratory medicine care at Humayun Hospital.
Do I need to fast for my blood test?
For lipid profile and fasting glucose, yes, usually eight to twelve hours with water allowed. Most other tests do not need fasting. You will be told when you book.
When will I get my results?
Most routine blood tests are reported the same day. Cultures take two to three days because the organism has to grow, and histopathology usually takes several days.
Can samples be collected at home?
Yes, home collection is available for routine tests, which helps for older or immobile patients. Some samples must be processed quickly and are better collected here.
My result is slightly outside the range. Is that a problem?
Often not. Reference ranges are set so that a proportion of healthy people fall outside them. A single borderline value should be interpreted by your doctor alongside everything else.
