Your health. Our priority.
The most valuable thing a fertility unit can give you early is a realistic picture, including when treatment is unlikely to help.
- Both partners assessed from the start, since male factors account for a large share of cases
- Treatment stepped up from the simplest option rather than starting at the most expensive one
- Success rates quoted for your age and diagnosis, not the clinic's best case
- Costs set out in writing before a cycle begins, including what happens if it is cancelled

Questions, answered.
Common questions about fertility & reproductive medicine care at Humayun Hospital.
How long should we try before seeking help?
A year if you are under 35, six months if you are over 35, and straight away if periods are very irregular or there is known tubal or testicular disease.
Do we both need to be tested?
Yes. Male factors are involved in roughly half of cases and a semen analysis is quick, inexpensive and non-invasive. Testing only one partner wastes months.
Will we definitely need IVF?
No. Many couples conceive with ovulation induction, timed intercourse or insemination, all of which are simpler and far less expensive. IVF is recommended when the diagnosis calls for it.
What are the chances of success?
It depends most on age and the underlying cause. Your consultant will give a figure for your situation rather than a clinic average, and will tell you if it is low.
