Your health. Our priority.

A diet plan is only useful if it survives contact with a real household, a real budget and a real week.

  • Plans written in terms of rice, roti, dal and the meals your family already cooks
  • Portion guidance using household measures rather than grams nobody weighs
  • Review appointments, because the first plan is rarely the one that lasts
  • Working directly with the treating team, so the diet matches the medication

Questions, answered.

Common questions about dietetics & clinical nutrition care at Humayun Hospital.

Will I have to stop eating rice?

No. Quantity, what you eat with it and how often matter far more than removing it. A plan that bans a staple is a plan that gets abandoned within a fortnight.

How is a kidney diet different from a diabetes diet?

Considerably. A kidney diet controls potassium, phosphate, salt and protein, and some foods recommended for diabetes are restricted. If you have both, the plan has to be built for both together.

How often will I need to come back?

Usually a review after two to four weeks, then less often as things settle. The first plan almost always needs adjusting once real life has tested it.

Can you help my child who will not eat?

Yes. Poor weight gain and fussy eating are common and usually improve with a structured approach. We assess growth first, because that tells us whether there is a medical cause.
