Skin, hair and nail conditions, from everyday complaints to chronic disorders.
Your health. Our priority.
Most disappointing skin treatment comes from treating the wrong diagnosis for months.
- Diagnosis made by examination and dermoscopy rather than by trying creams in sequence
- Acne treated to prevent scarring, which is the part that does not reverse
- Chronic conditions like eczema and psoriasis managed over time rather than in flares
- Honest expectations for hair and pigmentation treatment, including how long results take

Questions, answered.
Common questions about dermatology care at Humayun Hospital.
How long does acne treatment take to work?
Usually six to eight weeks before a clear improvement, and longer for the full effect. Stopping at four weeks because nothing has changed is the commonest reason treatment appears to fail.
Is eczema curable?
It is controllable rather than curable, and most children improve considerably as they grow. The aim is long stretches without flares, using moisturiser consistently rather than only when it is bad.
Why does my fungal infection keep returning?
Usually because treatment was stopped when the itching settled rather than when the infection cleared, or because clothing and household contacts were not treated. Both are fixable.
Should I be worried about a mole?
See someone if it is changing in size, shape or colour, has an irregular border, itches or bleeds. Dermoscopy gives a much better answer than looking at it with the naked eye.
